England failing to produce quality young players??
Over the last 10-12 years England have produced some of the greatest players England have ever seen and were labeled the 'golden era' of English football.Players such as John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Gary Neville , Ashley Cole , Frank Lampard , Stevie Gerrard, Joe Cole, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen and Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney and among others. the 'golden era' of English football failed to produce on the biggest of stages in the world cup and the European championships. Since 1996 European championships were England reached the semi - finals and lost out to Germany losing 6-5 on penalties. England have failed to get past the quater finals stages in the 2002 and 2006 World cup and the 2004 European Championship and even failed to reach the European championships in 2009.

The so called' golden era' of English players starting coming to an end. England national team are going through a transition in were they need the next generation to step up and take over from the last generation of English footballers. In my opinion the next generation is not ready and their is a lack of young England talents around who are capable of taken over and bringing a new era to England national football team. Wayne Rooney at the age of 26 is future of the England and has to help with the development of the next generation of England team team. Jack Wilshere, Kyle walker, Joe hart and Daniel welbeck are the only players who have the maturity to step up in the major International competition for England.Due to a lack of opportunities for other younger players to play in international friendly matches they don't have the experience of international football to play in Major tournament for England. In England club teams don't want their younger players playing in underage tournaments which is damaging their chances of becoming a better player as it is vital for young players to develop the maturity and experience in underage tournaments so they can step up to the senior level of international football.

In other major countries such as Germany and Spain they are producing youngster that are able to step into the senior national teams. in Germany squad in world cup 2010 they had 15 out of the 23 players were under the age of 25. Spain had 11 out of 23 players under the age of 25. The young players from both Germany and Spain have gained their experience from playing underage tournaments and been called up to the senior squads for friendly matches . Spain and Germany have benefited from producing young players. Germany beat England 4-1 in the round of 16 and went onto the semi finals with the winners Spain winning 1-0 on the day

In 2010 England world cup squad 5 of the 23 man squad were under the age of 25 this showed they were a lack of youngsters been produced. Spain and Germany club teams allow their young players to play underage tournaments. England will need their young players to play in the underage tournaments if they want to be able to produce quality young players who are ready to step up when called to play for senior teams. Unless the English FA recognise this England will carry on producing young players who won't have the ability, experience and maturity to step on the International stage were so many other English players have failed to produce. will England keep producing players who cant step up on the the big international stages? or will England learn from the past and other countries and change their ways?
